£6,500 Raised for Harp For Patagonia Appeal

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to Elinor Bennett’s appeal to raise money to buy harps to send to Patagonia as part of celebrating 150 years since establishing the Welsh settlement over there.

Elinor Bennett is currently in Patagonia to deliver one of the harps personally to a Music School in the country. The appeal to raise money to buy a harp was initiated by Elinor who saw the gesture as a way of encouraging Welsh culture in Patagonia.

Over 80 individuals contributed to the campaign, and also companies and organisations who were just as enthusiastic as Elinor towards the purpose of the appeal.

We are pleased to announce that the appeal succeeded in collecting over £6,500 which will be enough to buy two harps to send to Patagonia. One from Telynau Teifi, a harp company located in Llandysul, South Wales, who also contributed two small ‘Dryw’ harps also; the other harp from the renowned French manufacturer Camac.

Congratulations to everyone involved with the appeal, we were amazed by the generosity of people towards the campaign which is testament that promoting Welsh culture in ‘Y Wladfa’ is important to Wales today.
